Ten Spanish startups will compete to win the “European Food Nexus Startup Challenge”
A major event will be held in Barcelona on 26 October to select two finalists to compete in the European Grand Final.
The “European FoodNexus StartUp Challenge” ” is a competition designed for innovative food and agriculture industry companies from throughout Europe to select the most promising AgriTech or FoodTech Startup.
The startups Agroconecta, Natural Machines, Insylo, Fred Cold Brew, Pycno, Vacapp, Egg Gourmet, Instagreen, Suppa Caps and Astibot were selected from among all the participants in the first classification round in La Rioja.
The National Final will be held on 26 October in Barcelona. This major event has been organised by CLUSTER FOOD+i (Ebro Valley Food Cluster) and will take place at Mercabarna’s facilities at 11am. The ten chosen startups will attend the event to argue the case for their projects in person. Two startups will then be chosen to represent Spain at the European Grand Final.
These two winning teams (along with the other European finalists) will have the opportunity to work with major companies such as Unilever, FrieslandCampina and other leading food and agriculture industry companies.

All the finalists from each country will take part in the European Grand Final, which will be held in Wageningen, Holland on 13 December 2017.
The event will culminate with the selection of Europe’s Best AgriTech / FoodTech Startup.
The winner will receive a cash prize of €50,000, as well as the advantages and benefits of being a finalist.
